/// Physical CD-R version released March 2021 on Frustration Jazz \\\

frustrationjazz.bandcamp.com/album/something-in-the-way

I've been playing piano for a while, untrained like everything else. It was my first instrument if you count the discordant barrage I made on the ivories as a young kid. But that didn't last very long.

Rediscovered it many years later but that was still a long time ago, it's taken me almost 20 years to record anything. There was something in the way I guess. I've recorded keys before now, digital piano and Casio in the context of a couple of different bands but this is the first time solo on an acoustic piano. The instrument was left in my rental by the landlord, it's definitely seen better days. The sound is poor, taken from a mobile phone. Bare minimum of editing, extraneous sounds left in.

released March 21, 2020

Recorded in Mount Stuart (Hobart), Tasmania. All tracks improvised on an old, out of tune upright piano.

Track 1 recorded on the 28th of October 2019
Track 2 recorded on the 22nd of March 2020
Track 3 recorded on the 2nd of April 2020

Recorded on the stolen lands of the Muwinina people. The Tasmanian Aboriginal (palawa) community are the ongoing custodians of this land. Sovereignty was never ceded.

NB: This digital version was initially released with a different cover image, the image featured now is that used for the physical CD-R version.
