about

Irish bouzouki, 8 strings as opposed to the 6 string version of the Greek bouzouki that I normally play (not the only difference). The instrument was given to me for an 'important number' birthday but I didn't really know what to do with it until I started mucking around with brass finger picks and decided I really liked the sound of that. It's a bit Primitive, not particularly American though. Not very Irish either.

On this occasion, non-standard tuning FDAD. All improvised. Mic'd into a small makeshift PA.

Track 1 is more directly influenced by Primitive guitar, amongst other things. Don't mind the strange sounds coming from a four-legged audience member (not the one pictured) around the one and half minute mark.

Track 2 is an extended meditation, in terms of technique as well as length. I say meditation but it does get a little more frisky around the half-way mark.

Recorded at my friend's/bandmate's housewarming in Hobart. Rus and I have played together in Learners and Soundtracks Will Dissolve.
