Prism, The Brisbane Hotel 29 May 2019

about

Digital-only release.

Noisy droning live improvisation on electric bouzouki recorded during a Prism event at The Brisbane Hotel, Hobart. Thanks to Cam Phillips for asking me to play. Prism was hosted by Sophie Zavala every Wednesday from July 2018 until Covid hit in 2020. RIP The Brisbane Hotel (for reasons other than Covid).

Cam's minimalist industrial ambient duo Tremens played, so did noise acts Severe and Primal Regression Therapy. It was a pretty noisy gig all around. You can also hear the sounds of people playing pool in the background, hopefully that doesn't mar the recording too much.

Instrumentation: Electric 6-string bouzouki, amp

Image is a crop from a photo taken by Gabbee Stolp at the gig.

Recorded on the stolen lands of the Muwinina people, sovereignty was never ceded. Much respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal (palawa) community, the ongoing custodians of this land.
