Some words via Frustration Jazz but written by me anyway:

FJ001: Long-Necked & Blue is an album of acoustic six-string bouzouki instrumentals and my first solo release after playing in several ultra-obscure bands in both Melbourne and Hobart, most recently the improvised keys and drums duo Bourgeois Bigots and free noise/drone duo The Drunken Boat. The tracks here are partly influenced by rembetika music, otherwise known as the early 20th Century Greek blues but filtered through my love of free folk, American primitive guitar and free improv so they sound very different to the original forms of that music. Not having grown up with a strong Greek community/cultural influence in my life has meant that I’ve been free to find my own way with the instrument and a bit of the old DIY attitude (more post-punk than punk) has also informed my experimental/self-taught approach to all things music. Recorded around four years ago in Hobart before I moved to Melbourne in 2013, these tracks also don't rely on the Greek scales used in rembetika and whilst some are more abstracted or angular than others, hopefully they all still retain something of the feel of that urban folk form, a troubled music for troubled lives.

All tracks recorded in 2012 at The House on the Hill, Hobart, except for “Solitary Slow Dance”, recorded at The HotH in 2011.
